As Artistic Director of Civilised Mess, I led a small, bespoke company specialising in immersive “theatre for hire” — custom-designed performances for events, festivals, and one-off happenings around the world. Known for our darkly ornate aesthetic, we were inspired by macabre theatre, Tim Burton-style surrealism, and fantasy folklore. Our prosthetic and SFX work, led by the brilliant Grace McComisky, brought to life an unforgettable cast of creatures — from globetrotting goblins to haunting mermaids — with exquisite attention to detail. Every show was a handcrafted, immersive world that blurred the line between theatre, art installation, and dream logic.
